Ok I've just tryed , everything looks fine but.
You only give users a link to edit their profile.
The map is showing on the profile page , not profile edition:

members.netchoral.org/index.php?option=com_comprofiler

and it's showing fine beeing loggedin

You should create another submenu item to let people vieuw their own profile.

And do not set the read only mode in the pugin paremeters unless you use the geommunity geocoder plugin for CB.

Thanks, Nordmograph. You are correct - it is working. It is just contra-intuitive that the editable map id visible on the member view - but not member edition.

Now, if I don't want it to show on at the bottom of every tab-view, what would you recommend?

Well, the map is also usefull to profile visitors to see where the user is (alternative to the global map module). The map on profile can alos show users geolocated friends. if you use Community Builder, and don't want to show the plugin on the profile, you can use the free geocoder plugin to parse users address to coordiantes or only show the map on the registration page.
