Cannot get it to work

Thats the first thing I struggled with. I dont think it has installed everything

You need to install the component via the regular Joomla installer
And the ES application via the ES app manager.
You can reinstall these over and over so if you'rte not sure it went through, just retry, it can not hurt.
Then enable the ES app , select the profile types allowed to host (and have their own printable QR Code on profile for visitors to scan and checkin).

The 'unzipfirst@ folder, has 2 items in it.
The first is a zip file that installed without problems via Joomla.
The 2nd item is a folder called Intergration. within that, there is another folder called EasySocial, within that there is a folder called Plugins and within there there is a file plg_app_user_geocheckin_social.zip which will not upload.
When was this installer last checked, as I know I am a competent IT person and quite capable of installing such things.

plg_app_user_geocheckin_social.zip has to be installed via the EasySocial Applications installer, not Joomla's.
Sorry I never meant you were incompetent or anything, but many users forget ES plugins install their own way on the specific ES applications installer page.
