You have a conflict between Alpha and Alta UP
Uninstall anything related to AlphaUserPoints.

I did this for all aup plugins (accept the one that I developed), but the problem persists. no points being logged for users for their jomsocial activity.

Does a click on the Jomsocial Import rules button now work ?
Can you synch users ?

Yes. The import rules button works. the rules are in.
However, when people take the action that the rules pertain to, they are not working. The users are not earning points even through the rule is in.
