Component installation and settings
Requirements
This component requires:
- Joomla 3+
- Virtuemart or Hikashop
This component installs via the core Joomla installer
Unzip com_unpaidereminder_UNZIPFIRST.zip and find
com_unpaidereminder-x.x.x.zip (where x.x.x is the version number)
Open Your Joomla back end and go to Top menu -> Extensions ->Manage -> install
Click the Brows button to select the com_unpaidereminder-x.x.x.zip archive on your computer.
Clikp upload and component will install.
Then go to Top menu -> System-> Global Configuration and select Unpaid Orders Reminder in the left column.
Here are the main options you see
Some will hide or show depending on if you use Virtuemart or Hikashop
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
Cron Job URL
This is the url of the page that will trigger the script when loaded. The script will check in the set period if it can find unpaid orders that are the latest orders from that specific customer.
The URL basically is: http://yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_unpaidreminder&view=cron&tmpl=component&s=xxx
Where xxx is your Cron secret.
Ecommerce Manager
Set here if youare using Virtuemart or Hikashop as your catalogue and cart extension.
Order age
Set the age of orders to be checked. You don't want the customer to be emailed the same day as the unpaid order, so the default setting here is 1 day.
Order Max age
Set the max age of orders for the script to investigate. Set 2days (supposing you will set your cron job interval with a value loawer than 1 day)
Order Status
Set here the order status of the orders to revive (Mostly Pending and Cancelled for Virtuemart or Created and Cancelled for Hikashop)
Order Status OK
Set here the order status for customers fllowing orders to be validated , canceling the reminder email.
For instance. the script finds an unpaid order (Cancelled), but the customer paid a more recent one, we will not remind him for the old cancelled one.
We set Confirmed, Shipped
Cron Job Secret
Set a variable here as a secret. It should be added at the end of the Cron Job URL as S paramaeter ( &s=XXXXX) . If the url is triggered without that secret, it will not perform. This will prevent anyone from triggering the script except from the Cron Job.
BCC Email address
Receive a copy of the sent reminder email to that specific address you set here.
Client Name First Word
This feature will shorten the client name to its first word, mostly the first name. This is to make the email content as human and friendly as possible. We want the client feel like the email is not automatic.
Generate a Coupon
This feature allowes you to add a coupon code to the email content for the customer to use.
The following Coupon options depend on your Ecommerce Manager and we encourage you to check Virtuemart or Hikashop documentation for coupons.
Coupon Value
Coupon Value Type (Percent or Total)
Minimum Order Total for coupon to be added
Coupon expiration in days
Coupon currency (Hikashop only)
Coupon tax category (Hikashop only)
Enable DEBUG
This will display all email and variables information on the cron page view. it will not prevent the cron to process.
Now the component options are set
Set the Cron Job at your host cpanel.
