Installation Related

1) I installed Geocheckin Suite and Geocheckin Social Suite. I can see entries in the "Extension Manager: Manage" screen but don't have links on the back-end "Components" menu (I expect to see entries beginning 'Geocheckin...' that would enable me to access the component. Am I missing something?

2) For these geocheckin products and your other products what is the best method to see/manage updates? Do you use Joomla live update or some other mechanism? How do admins keep current with your product revs the easiest way?

1) . This application actually only uses the component for its global parameters.
Then it relies on plugins.
Check the documentation at

It misses screenshot, but all you need to know should be mentioned there. Still let me know if any question arises.

2) We recently installed the update server for most of our Joomla extensions and still setting it for some.
It will let you know via the Joomla installer for new updates. But you might need to update your extensions so it takes adventage of this new feature.

The Geocheckin suite doesn't have it yet, so I'll update it today with it and let you know.
For my input will you use it with Joomla or K2 Article ?
Is it on an EasySocial site ?

2) I plan on using it with Joomla and I have installed it for EasySocial (yes, it's on an EasySocial site).

1) Actually you were right, A menu is supposed to show with 3 submenus.
I updated the archive to 1.0.1b with this solved.

2) I also added to that version the update server feature.
So I recommend you uninstall previous version and reinstall this new one.
Once installed you can search for geocheckin in
administrator/index.php?option=com_installer&view=updatesites
If you find it this means it should warn you when update is available.

1) I have purchased the version for Joomla articles and the version for EasySocial (but just getting around to installing them now). Does the EasySocial version enable checkin via some EasySocial-specific object or does it still require checking by a Joomla article? If it supports checkin via Joomla article, then the EasySocial version just supports additional social features like writing updates to the stream, is that right?

1) they basically provide the same feature but. One uses Joomla articles as 'places' where to checkin , the other set ES users as 'places' where to checkin

2) Yes , I updated both of the yesterday for that purpose.
