Are you using the AUP profile for Kunena ?

Good point. I thought I was using the right plug-in, but it turns out what I had was the Kunena - AlphaUserPoints Integration. That fixed that part of the problem, but led to another issue.

I installed the Kunena - AltaUserPoints plugin on two different test servers. On both of the test servers, once the plug-in is enabled, my attempts to access my Kunena forums result in a 500 server error.

Did you get latest versions from this site ? Previous ones had issues.
Curent one is installed on this forum here and works fine, both in displaying the points and one triggering rules.

Check the errorlog to get info on what causes the issue, and report.

So it appears that I'm missing avatar.php. I downloaded the file from nordmograph again today and checked the .zip file to see if there was one packaged in there, but there isn't.

Any idea where I can obtain an avatar.php file?
