Hi just updated the plugin to 1.0.4 so it gets the path from the config.
So if you install that latest one, you should be able to set back your custom path.
Also can you try updating via the Joomla updater ?
Remembering the domain that has to be set in your Nordmograph customer account is only the name + extensions
without http://

Just like:
joomla.org

I have placed onto my account but only appears on the plugin page and won't let me update from there.

Also, I am logged into your site on the Letter Gravatar page and the download link doesn't appear.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
IN the plugin backend, the field shows you what to set in your Nordmograph customer account:
thesocialdomain.com

and not
thesocialdomain.com, thesocialdomain.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin&layout=edit&extension_id=11079
