It can depend on your Jomsocial version, but it should be in
administratot/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_aupprofile.ini

im using joomla 3...... jomsocial 4.0.3.... AUP version 2

Can you post a screenshot of what string you want to change ?

What you mention is not in the plugin language file. So it might be relate to AUP language file itself and not our plugin.
